Systems Engineer, Electronic Hardware - Cambridge - £40,000 to £45,000 P/A + Benefits

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Electronic Systems Engineer to join a leading organisation based in Cambridge. The Systems Engineer will become part of a global team, providing solutions for high performance computing and electronic boards and systems.

The Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role, serving as a customer contact for Electronic Systems Design, working with internal sales teams who generate leads and the internal design teams to ensure customer design requirements are met.

Systems Engineer - Responsibilities:

* Serve as a customer contact for systems designs, creating design specifications in line with customer requirements
* Visit customer sites throughout the UK and Europe as required, during pre and post sales activity
* Understand customer usage requirements and suggest suitably configured design solutions to meet customer requirements
* Provide cost estimation data and provide proposals in support of the European Sales Teams
* Provide ongoing post sales technical support when customers are at the development stage
* Be a bridge between the Systems Applications and Sales teams to provide advance product information and system configuration information
* Act as project manager for design projects and liaise with the Operations team to ensure the products can be manufactured
* Manage system hardware design work, both internal and external
* Ensure compliance with EMC standards and manage external testing
* Apply Product Life Cycle to a product development, handling all aspects of the life cycle from concept and feasibility through to production release
* Write and review specifications, including design criteria, prepare and maintain project plans
* Assist the Test Development team in resolving test issues
* Keep up to date with current relevant legislation, eg. WEEE, RoHS, Safety, EMC, LVD, Environmental

Systems Engineer - Skills Required:

* Degree level qualification in an electrical or electronic design related subject, and/or 3-5 years customer facing experience within a design and development environment
* Have a good understanding of electronics and system implementation
* Experience of working within an electronic systems manufacturing environment
* Experience of working in a customer facing role
* Proven project management and reporting writing skills
* Be able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy with an eye for detail
* Ability to offer guidance to customers and suggest possible solutions
* Excellent interpersonal skills, communicating well at all levels
* Ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines
* High degree of initiative - able to operate productively alone and as part of a team
* Proven ability to deliver technical presentations
* Ability to think laterally and multi-task
* Experience of working within a strict ISO9001 quality standard environment
* A full clean driving licence
