ROLE- Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer   

LOCATION- Oxfordshire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £22,000- £27,000 per annum dependent on experience (Please advise what you’re looking for)

My client works within the Engineering / Aircraft sector, and they are looking to take on a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Oxfordshire area.

The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar
  • 1 or more years’ experience working in a similar position
  • Be proficient with using CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar
  • Have a keen interest in design and working in a highly regulated engineering environment
  • Any materials experience with the following would be beneficial: extrusions and mouldings, sheet metal fabrication, machining and assembly manufacturing processes
  • Be proficient with using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to work well alone or as part of a team
  • Flexible to travel when required to client sites
  • Any experience with Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop would be desirable
The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Supporting the Design and Production Engineering team
  • Creating technical designs using SolidWorks
  • Producing engineering data
  • Being involved in inspection and elements of production
  • Learning more about working in a varied manufacturing environment
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers
  • Reading and interpreting engineering data and drawings
  • Liaising between Design and Production
  • Identifying any opportunities for process improvements
  • Operating inspection equipment
  • Development will be available for the right candidate to move into a Design Engineer role
