Role- Sourcing Manager (Engineering) 

Salary- Circa £35,000- £50,000 per annum dependent on experience (please advise what you would be looking for)

Type- Permanent

Location- Surrey

My client design and manufacture electro-mechanical products and they are looking to take on an experienced Sourcing Manager/ Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Surrey area.

The Sourcing Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
  • 4 of more years’ previous experience working for a similar Engineering Manufacturing company 
  • HNC/ HND/ NVQ/ Degree Qualification in Engineering would be preferable
  • Experienced working with different manufacturing techniques, processes, materials and components within a similar role
  • Have the desire to work in more of a hands on position as opposed to being involved in man-management
  • Be able to read and work with technical engineering drawings
  • Experienced in vendor negotiations, supply chain management and strategic purchasing
  • Six Sigma (Green Belt) would be desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Flexible to travel around 25% of the time as part of the role 
The Sourcing Manager role will involve:
  • Being involved in the continuous improvement of the sourcing strategy of NPI programs and the overall supply chain – mainly cost reductions
  • Working hands on with components and coming up with alternatives
  • Working closely with the Engineering team too
  • Helping the company achieve goals for direct and indirect savings
  • Evaluating strategic suppliers and monitoring supplier performance
  • Having responsibility for supporting product management – ensuring the delivery of engineering and supply chain objectives
  • Building external and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Interfacing between the sourcing and manufacturing operations teams
  • Assisting with any suppler quality issues when required that may affect the cost improvement strategy
  • Preparing monthly reports  
  • Travel within the UK and to Asia approx. a couple of times a year
